Please read and accept the following rules and instructions.
As a community tree donor, you will receive two complimentary Festival of Trees General Admission passes at the time of tree drop off.
*Read assembly instructions that come with the tree.
*Assemble the tree according to the instructions and “fluff up” the tree by moving the branches to fill it in.
*Please, nothing edible on the tree (candy, dog biscuits, etc.). We strongly recommend against breakable glass ornaments. There are many beautiful items which are not fragile, allowing your tree to arrive in its new home just as you designed it.
*While you are free to decorate a tree of your choice, we have found that smaller or slender trees are more desirable, easier to transport and store.
*All ornaments must be securely wired to the tree with craft wire or small gauge ribbon (do not glue). Do not use wire hangers provided with ornaments or fishing line. IMPORTANT: Wire should never be wrapped over or around electrical wires for lights, only around bare branches.
*Tape any replacement bulbs and directions to the wire near the plug.
*Remember – always pick your tree up by the base.
*Because of the large number of entries, we are limited to the space allotted for each tree. Please limit the number of “go with” items. You may provide a skirt, however, it isn’t necessary as bases will be covered. We prefer that items not extend beyond the perimeter of the tree unless it is an essential element.
*Valuable items such as gift cards can be photocopied. You can use the photocopy as the ornament and the actual gift card can be kept in an envelope and given to the winner upon pick-up.
By following these simple instructions, your beautiful creation will be easy to transport and enjoyed by its new owner for many years to come.
The trees in the Festival will be judged in similar categories: (subject to change) Best in Show, Most Festive, Best Use of Materials, Most Clever Idea, Most Whimsical, Most Creative, etc.
